Structural Funds and Energy Energy is the cement of economic growth. Investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency are vital for a sustainable regional development and for cohesion in the European Union. Energy investments can contribute to a better environment, improved competitiveness, more jobs, and overall economic growth. That is why the European Commission advocates the financing of investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency through Structural and Cohesion Funds. However, few energy-related projects are currently financed through Structural and Cohesion Funds (SCF). Managing Authorities often lack awareness, know-how, and access to the energy sector when promoting and managing energy aspects under SCF.
PromoSCene: Bridging the gap PromoSCene is geared towards bridging this gap between Structural Funds and the energy sector. PromoSCene aims to enhance the use of Structural and Cohesion Funds for financing sustainable energy projects, in order to foster cohesion in the European Union and contribute to the goals of Lisbon and Gothenburg. The project can help member states to successfully implement their Operational Programmes.
