Summary

XPAR Vision has developed an infrared inspection system by using the knowledge as acquired by the University of Groningen and the Centre for Technical Informatics. Research results demonstrate that the product rejection in case of container glass, can be decreased by more than 5% and product quality improves. The size of the market has been investigated where these advantages are appreciated economically. The inspection system can be applied in various energy intensive branches, in case very high temperatures are characteristic for the production.
Market research has been directed to production processes for which the IR-meter is economically feasible.
With the exception of the glass industry, no results in other processes are obtained. Nevertheless, application possibilities are expected in case of rolling construction beams and in case of extruding aluminium and plastics.
