Knowledge network PIN Process Intensification, a trend in process technology which can create processes in much smaller equipment than we see nowadays. A factor 2 to micro dimensions, developments have been aimed at various perspectives. Ultimately the new processes are cheaper, consume less energy and leave less emissions to the environment.
PIN NL is the Dutch platform on Process Intensification. Members are process industries, technological institutes and consultants.
The PIN NL knowledge network information is available in Dutch only.
Learn from practice: description of 20 Applications of PI in process industry and a short manual 'How to do PI'
About three years ago the idea was launched to analyse the applications of PI to processes systematically. All over the process industry published examples of PI are available but a good overview was missing. Twenty applications of PI have been analysed and reported. Furthermore, an overview and analysis has been compiled, summarizing what can be learned from the PI applications to processes.
The objective of this information is to show that PI can be applied in a broad spectrum of production processes and that application is not limited to the chemical process industries. We expect that this information will assist the reader to trace opportunities for PI and to assist him/her how to develop such a project.
SenterNovem, the Netherlands Agency for Energy and the environment, is sponsor of the Dutch PI-network and has supported the preparation of this review.
