Energy Transition Board

The Energy Transition Board (ETB) was initiated on 25 February 2008, for a period of five years, by the Ministers of VROM and EZ, after consultations with their colleagues from several other ministries (V&W, LNV, OS and Finance). The establishment of this organisation is a natural progression from recommendations made by the former Energy Transition Task Force, in order to provide better continuation of this work.

The ETB will act as the independent and most important body to help the Ministers of VROM and EZ implement their policies to achieve a more sustainable energy supply and energy savings. The ETB is supported by six government ministries that also work together in the Interdepartmental Project Management for Energy Transition (EZ, VROM, V&W, LNV, Finance and OS). The tasks of the ETB are clearly formulated.

In addition to the chairman Theo Walthie, the ETB also includes the seven transition platforms and three independent members. The aim is that these 'independent members' will also play a reflecting role for the platforms, as well as being given their own portfolio with respect to communication, funding, international policy and innovation.
