This website provides information to those interested in projects in the field of renewable energy and energy conservation, including energy access in Indonesia.

The Netherlands embassy in Jakarta with its partners in the Government of Indonesia implements a comprehensive renewable energy support program to support Indonesia in the development of a renewable energy sector. SenterNovem, as the implementing body of the bilateral energy working group, supports the embassy as its lead energy advisor and implements large parts of the program.

Next to extensive capacity building activities the program provides financial support to boost the development of a disctinct number of subsectors. Many activities are building upon projects of the last few years and the bilateral energy relationship of many years between Indonesia and the Netherlands. Goal is to support Indonesia in its strategic development of a sustainable energy sector.

By means of an integrated programme support is being provided to capacity building on the national level and in five provinces: (North Sumatra, Yogyakarta, Central Java, West Nussa Tenggara and Papua) in Indonesia. The aim of the program The outcome of the programme is to establish a self-sustaining and self-developing structure at the national and regional level to build and strengthen human capacity with respect to integrated energy planning, renewable energy development, energy efficiency and energy access for the poor and that the five target provinces in Indonesia have the capacity to develop and implement  their own regional energy plans and to formulate policies for renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Apart from this general capacity reinforcement on renewables, the programme supports the strategic development of three specific, specific subsectors:

Support to these subsectors is given through a combination of technical and financial assistance with the goal to prepare and support a sustainable autonomous development of these sectors, providing lighting and cooking energy to rural households and to  substantially increase the share of renewable energy in the Indonesian energy mix.  Main implementing organizations are GTZ, Hivos and SenterNovem.

Next to that, the program explores opportunities for private sector cooperation between Dutch and Indonesian private companies operating in the energy sector in Indonesia. Finally, SenterNovem supports the government of Indonesia in the field of energy efficiency in the industrial sector.
