Competence Centre for Transitions The Competence Centre for Transitions is a joint initiative of the Dutch Ministry of the Environment, the Dutch Knowledge Network on System Innovations (KSI), the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research TNO and the SenterNovem Agency for sustainable development. Its main objective is to enable transition professionals to develop and transmit their competences in managing succesfully sustainable system innovations. We do so by taking and supporting initiatives to define, develope and transmit the competences vital for succes.
Competences
Drawing upon practical experience over the past five years, CCT takes a broad view on competences. Rather than focussing on ‘tips and tricks’, we take into account both explicit and ‘tacit’knowledge regarding innovation processes, common research tools as well as personal skills, and individual drives and values regarding society and sustainable development.
Target group
Target group of the activities of CCT is a growing community of so-called transition professionals, active in scientific institutions, government, business or non-governmental organisations. They may be project leaders, major advisers, facilitators or appointed ‘process monitors’ but, especially in less-organized ‘bottom-up’ initiatives, may also be exceptionally strategic, entrepreneurial and persuasive individual stakeholders. It is their (informal) role that makes a difference: they initiate, lead or facillitate system innovations as a member of a multi stakeholder coalition.
Main activities
The main areas of activity of the CCT are: - To define, articulate and make accessible competences vital for succes in system innovations, based on scientific research and dialogue with transition professionals;
- To organise and support the transmission of these competences;
- To enable transition professionals to exchange practical experiences;
- To assist transition professionals in articulating research needs drawn for practical experience, in dialogue with scientists, resulting in a research agenda.
